God’s Definitive Act of Saving Us Through Jesus’ Passion, Death, and Resurrection
Rev. Fr. Erl Dylan Tabaco, SSC

Today marks the beginning of Holy Week. As Christians across the globe, we are all invited to journey with our Lord as He enters triumphantly into Jerusalem. A few days from now, the same crowd that shouted in praise, “Hosanna, Son of David!” will become the voice of condemnation, crying out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”

As we reflect on these words, we are called to examine our own lives. Is our response to the Lord one of praise or of rejection, especially in the way we treat others?

Holy Week is a fitting time to recall everything we have done and to evaluate how our words and actions reflect our response to God—who loves us unconditionally, even as He embraces our brokenness and darkness. For the times we have fallen short in loving Him as we ought, let us come before Him with repentant hearts and ask for His mercy.

Holding on to God's promise that we are never alone in this journey toward the light, may we find courage to carry our crosses with faith, just as Jesus did on the way to Calvary. At the end of this journey, we do not find an empty tomb, but the gift of everlasting life. In His great love, sin and death no longer have power over us.

Let us take moments of silence throughout this week to acknowledge the times we turned our backs on our brothers and sisters in need. For, as Jesus said, “Whatever you do to the least of your brothers and sisters, you do unto Me.”

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus hanging on the cross, fulfilling the mission entrusted to Him by the Father. Let His love captivate our hearts—for in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, Jesus reveals to us the fullness of perfect love.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and grace-filled Holy Week.
